1 large egg

2 1/2 cups flour

1/2 cup whole milk or half and half

1/4 cup butter, melted

2 tsp yeast

1/3 cup granulated sugar

1/2 tsp salt

1 tsp vanilla extract

2 tsp matcha powder

Cinnamon

Powdered sugar

Filling:

1/4 cup butter, softened at room temperature

2 tbsp cinnamon

1/2 cup brown sugar

Icing:

1 cup powdered sugar

Approx 2 tbsp milk

1/2 tsp vanilla extract

Visual Instructions:

Assemble ingredients: flour, matcha powder, cinnamon, vanilla extract, milk, yeast, sugar, egg.

Preheat oven to lowest setting then turn off once it comes to temperature. Mix yeast with warm milk.

Combine and sift flour, matcha powder and salt.

In a large bowl, add milk & yeast mixture, sugar, eggs, vanilla extract and melted butter. Whisk until just combined then add dry mixture.

With a stand mixer, using a dough hook, mix the dough for 2 - 3 mins on medium speed until dough is sticky and tacky.

Dough should have this consistency.

Grease a large bowl and place dough then cover with a lightly damp dish towel. Place in the warm oven and allow it to rest for 1 hr or until doubled in size.

In a small bowl, assemble the filling by mixing softened butter, sugar and cinnamon, set aside.

Once the dough has risen, pour out the dough onto a floured surface and roll the dough into a rectangle.

Brush on the cinnamon filling onto the dough.

On the long end, roll the dough tightly jelly roll style.

Cut into 8 slices and placed in a greased pan. Cover and allow the dough to rest in the pan for 15 mins. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees fahrenheit. Once the oven is preheated, place the pan into the oven and bake for 18 - 20 mins.

Remove rolls from the oven and allow it to cool for 15 mins while making the icing. Prepare the icing by mixing powdered sugar, milk and vanilla extract stirring until smooth. For a thicker consistency, add a bit more powdered sugar. Pour the icing over the cinnamon rolls and enjoy.
